Leadership Forum on Early Education Research, Policy, and Practice Will Be at Umass Boston Saturday May 18th (Registration Extended to May 7th)

There’s still time to register for the 2019 Leadership Forum on Early Education Research, Policy, and Practice! Early education experts Amy O’Leary and Teddy Kokoros will share ways that educators can use their voices individually and collectively to drive the change needed to strengthen the field and support its workforce.
O’Leary is director of Early Education for All, a campaign of Strategies for Children and also the President of the Governing Board of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Kokoros is a graduate of the Leadership Institute’s post-master’s certificate program, pre-K teacher, and doctoral candidate in education at Lesley University who incorporates political advocacy for greater public investment in early care and education into all aspects of his work.

In addition to O’Leary and Kokoros, we expect more than 100 established and emerging leaders in early care and education to attend the annual conference, which examines ways to advance leadership pathways in early education and care in Massachusetts. The day-long forum will feature morning presentations by early educators graduating from the leadership programs of the Institute for Early Education Leadership and Innovation. These presentations offer an early look at some of the innovations that will be implemented in the field in the coming year, and attendees will come away with ideas for improving their own practice.

Afternoon presentations will focus the ways in which early educators can use their voices individually and collectively to drive the change that is needed to create new systems in early care and education and change existing ones to meet the field’s responsibility to children, families, and the public.

Dr. Anne Douglass, founder and executive director of the Leadership Institute, will also give a keynote speech on the state of leadership in early care and education.

Registration for the Leadership Forum on Early Education Research, Policy, and Practice will be open through Friday, May 10.The Leadership Forum takes place on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 9:30 a.m.–3 p.m. at the University of Massachusetts Boston Campus Center.
