The Wonder of Leadership: Creativity, Entrepreneurial Mindsets, and the Future of our Field: November 5 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm (Free)

The inaugural post for this site urged people to check out The Wonder of Learning at Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education & Human Development.

Now I’ll urge people to go to a specific event “The Wonder of Leadership: Creativity, Entrepreneurial Mindsets, and the Future of our Field” on November 5th.

I’ve worked with both presenters Dr. Anne Douglass and Amanda Wiehe Lopes, M.S.Ed in various projects and both have innovative minds and boundless energy which they use to advance the field of early education and care. Personally, as one of my professors and as a colleague, Dr. Douglass has been one of my inspirations to try to be a change agent in the field.

Dr. Anne Douglass recently released her book  “Leading for Change in Early Care and Education: Cultivating Leadership from Within” https://www.tcpress.com/leading-for-change-in-early-care-and-education-9780807758359

The book contains “both research findings and practical recommendations, this book presents an innovative framework for nurturing leadership in the care and education of young children. Early educators are often seen as the objects of change, rather than the architects and co-creators of change. Douglass calls for a paradigm shift in thinking that challenges many long-held stereotypes about the early care and education workforce’s capacity to lead change. Case studies show how educators use their expertise every day to make a difference in the lives of children and families. These accounts demonstrate concrete strategies for expanding current thinking about who can be leaders for change and for developing more inclusive pathways for leadership. This book has the potential to revolutionize the field with a new model for developing and nurturing innovative, entrepreneurial, and skilled early educator leaders capable of driving transformative change—from classrooms and home-based programs to communities and beyond.”

I hope to see you there on November 5th at The Wheelock Family Theater at 7pm for this event.
